Now Where and With Whom for 2022!

Back in the days when I was first involved with men’s work, I was exposed to the question – Where are you going and who are you taking with you? It is a thought- provoking question at the beginning of a new year. The other caveat of this question was the emphasis on answering it in the order asked and not the other way around.

In many ways, 2021 took us all into uncharted territory – an ongoing worldwide pandemic that continued to impact us both personally and professionally. I am imagining that for most of us, we did not think that 2021 was going to continue to be so disruptive. It has me wondering if ongoing disruption is the new normal? We have always said in the consulting business that change is the constant.

Amidst it all, and there has been a lot, where do you want to go in 2022? Where are you now and where would you like to be? Identify what the gap is and determine what actions you will need to take to get you where you want to go. Are you adding to your life to get there? Or is it better for you to do some subtraction? Remember your grade school learning that addition and subtraction are always complimentary functions. Getting to where you want to go will involve both.

Now that you have a sense of where you want to go – who are you taking with you? One of the gifts of 2021 for me was that clarifying this second question has become more intentional than habitual. It has been intriguing to see who has chosen to stay connected and who I have chosen to be connected with going forward. For me, if it has not been a family member that is life-giving and supportive of my dreams and aspirations, then it has been the gift of those who are my intentional community of family and friends. The choice is yours about who you choose as your tribe. Mix it up a bit and seek out diversity. It helps to create a stronger and more resilient ecosystem.

Now where and with whom for 2022! Take a moment to pause and let inspiration loose. And if I can be helpful to you along the way, please do reach out. I always enjoy seeing who is inspired to do so. With deep gratitude for you and our shared experience of getting there - together.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
